The rear brakes can be tricky to adjust on these trucks. The best way ive found to do it is jack one wheel up at a time, leave it in neutral and leave the parking brake off. Spin the wheel that is off the ground, if it free spins then the brakes need to be adjusted down. Adjust them down and spin the wheel again by hand, usually the wheel will not rotate a full turn once you get them right. It will still turn but will take slight effort to turn it. Repeat on the other side the same way. If the wheel can not be spun by hand then the brakes are too tight and you will have premature brake failure. As always use jack stands to support the truck that way you dont get squished. As Cusser said once you get them adjusted then work on the parking brake, I have never adjusted mine so I can't tell you how to do that part. Good luck and let us know.

I just spoke to my mate that fitted my wheel cylinders and he said the shoes are adjusted fine , but the hand brake could use some adjusting

It sounds like you got a bad master.

It's not the master , that was my first thought so I returned the new one and got a replacement still got the same prob

The brake light coming on key on and brake off is the sensor in the master indicating LOW brake fluid.Could be a bad connection if it is full. When I adjust mine I count the threads showing on the adjuster like 6-7 and both sides need to be the same.I might suggest checking your front calipers slide pins for sticking, and or rust.Granted unrelated but, my calipers had the slides rusted in place and could not separate the holding bracket so very limited movement and crappy brakes.I replaced both calipers and fixed.I recheck them 1 yearly to prevent this in the future.

the brake light on my dash is off but comes on once i start pumping the brakes the fluid is full so i dont think its that ?

Did you match up the master cylinder to pushrod clearance when you installed the new master cylinder?
aaron001au   +1y

yes it was adjusted to match the master cylinder

The first post didn't mention the front brake calipers were those bled as well? Also were the front disc pads inspected for wear?
