Hello i am new to this forum and new to Mazda trucks. I have an 86 B2000 that i am working on. I just finished the Weber carb conversion. That went well.
My question for you guys is as you can see in the photo, this truck has multi leafs and coil springs. I have never known a vehicle to have both. Do all 86 b2000's have this setup or was it a factory option? I have looked at the rear suspension diagrams in my Haynes manual and do not see the coil spring. It shows a bump stop instead. Could this be an aftermarket thing added by a previous owner? Reason i'm asking is because it seems to be making the ride really harsh in the rear.

In have an 86 b2k and it's only got leaves... No coil, that's not factory. I don't know why anyone would run coils and leafs... And from your pic it looks like they mono leafed it. But once again if they were going for a lower stance putting that coil in there wouldn't help any... That's a strange setup for sure... Sorry I'm not much help otherwise but I know for sure that your setup isn't factory.

The trucks not mono leafed. I see three leaf springs, plus the overload spring. The coils are to increase the load carrying capacity. Most parts stores will have them, along with JC Whitney. Dean

My bad I didn't look to closely at that pic, I feel dumb as shit... And I didn't realize they sold stuff like that... At least the mystery is solved... Lol

That looks to me as if someone had used that truck for carryong off scrap, or hauling a larger boat than they should have, but agree with these guys it's not factory, but have be carefull buying coils like that ya never know what it came from or whats cut off it. also if your ride is rough just try loading it with a heavy load one day an see if that wouldn't smooth it out, just curious wouldn;'t hurt to try it, an that would verify if it's setup for towing hauling etc.

Ok thanks for all the input. Now that I know they are not factory installed and don't need to be there (since i don't plan on hauling excessive loads) I am getting them out of there. They have a base bracket with tabs slipped underneath the u-bolts. Shouldn't be too hard to remove. I guess i'll go to the wrecking yard first and find some bump stops to go in their place.

I'd check just me personally and make sure they didn't remove any leaf springs as well, i cannot tell you how many either b2200 or b2000 should have mine was lowered on blocks when i got it, i have 3-4 leafs on mine and i ride just fine but have a lil roughness on well just really massive potholes that seem to happen on our roads out no where round here lol. but good luck man!

Yeah I have 3 leafs as well plus some sort of helper leaf below that too. Should be no problem to loose the coil!
Thanks
