Hi everyone, I have a question for all you Electric Circuit savvy people...

I have wired HID lights to my B, they are 'non high beams' and wired into my Low beam circuit. When I hit the high beams switch, the Headlights shut off...

I have installed a LED bar to act as my "High Beams" and wired it to my High beam circuit, but when I flip the switch my Headlights shut off and LED bar turns on....

What I would like to happen is the Low beams stay on when the High beam switch is activated so both headlights and LED bar are on simultaneously on, while still using the factory column headlight switch.

Now, If I pull the switch toward me "Flash to pass" direction to activate the LED High beams, there is a middle area where they both turn on, then when I get the switch all the way back the low beams shut off again...

Okay now for the 1 million dollar question. Can I hard wire the switch in the column somehow to keep both circuits active when I hit the switch? like connect the High and Low beam wires/ circuits together after the switch? Or will that make my high beams always on with the low beams?

I have racked my brain on this for a while and I cant seem to find a wiring diagram for the switch anywhere and figured I would seek help from the SCENE!

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Gm trucks had a similar issue in the 90's i think. You will have to use a relay yo keep both on at the same time. I would also advise on hardwireing 12+ with fuse from battery.

But would this make both run all the time or will I still have 'stock' switching functionality High and Low beam?

I found a Diode mod that should work, Now I just need to locate the High and low relays and wire the trigger wire from the High beam relay to the low beam relay using the diode. We shall see if it works.

I wouldn't screw with the relay boxes, Just put the diodes with the lights.

The question that needs to be answered though is if the headlights are switched on the negative or positive sides, and this would change how the diodes are positioned.

The easy way to do this is take a multimeter to the lights, and figure out what pins do what, then place the diodes where they need to be, in the appropriate direction. (arrow indicates flow from High to Low. )

Be sure to get some hefty hefty diodes. 6amps *should* work. If you are anywhere near the st louis area, I know some stores that will carry exactly what you need. Otherwise, just try and find electronics surplus stores, they carry better stuff for lower $$$

the diodes at the relays will work, that's how I did the 6hi mod on my wifes 06 tahoe

I used 6 amp Rectifier Diodes and tapped from the high to the low beams works great...
