Exhaust nightmare...

So the other day I hit a patch of standing water (it rained a lot) and it killed out my truck. It also ruined my cat. And I dragged through my muffler and tail pipe a few months back. So needless to say I need new exhaust. One big problem tho I have to get e tested within the next month or I lose my daily until I can get it to pass. So what I'm asking is 1 can i pass with a pacesetter and weber combo. 2 what catalytic converter should I get. And 3 could I build a new exhaust without welding... I'm on a somewhat limited budget but this needs to be done so if I have to "find" money I'll just have to do so. Any help would be awesome...

Well, not sure where you are, but when I lived in virginia, the only type of inspecting they dne to my vehicles was the standard walk around, and peeked under the hood, now i'd say if you have the weber and egr you'd be ok, but if not i don't know with the egr if they just glance at the motor won't have a problem, and i never was failed because my exhaust wasn't welded, i had it inspected a couple times when i was playing with differet exhaust setups, no welds just brackets and clamps, they never said a word, but mind you this was in virginia and may vary on strictness from state to state, and how well you know the person inspecting ya vehicle, but dang man that sucks and good luck getting it fixed.

I have a cat housing. . . In WY that's not an issue, in UT they actually tested emissions and did safety inspections. I might have gotten away with a broken muffler pipe, but not with the empty cat. Or having it too low. . .

There are cars that only have clamps on a good portion of the muffler sys. I don't think that will cause you grief, but if you have to pass emissions the cat might give you fits. That said if you have all the stuff underneath for a muffler sys I bet a shop would weld it up cheap for you.

Yeah i would just say try it without the cat? or if it's expensive idk some shops didn't charge if you fail, but they will tell you what you faill for, and if it's just a cat, i'd clamp it up to your system and just quick bracket it on, then once ya pass remove it, bracket up exhaust you want or keep it, but would be illegal without the cat but i'd say you know this if it fails for that reason. just some other ideas

So here's another question for u guys. If I get a new cat should I get a stock replacement or could I find a newer obd2 compliant cat and clamp it in? Thanks for the replies guys,

go to an exhaust and just get the cheapest cat they have. should be under $60.
