Since my truck has no a/c, and I die every summer and am unable to take trips in it with the fam due to no a/c, I'd like to add it sometime.

Does anyone have a step by step, and list/pics of all the parts needed?

I can salvage off other trucks/cars, just not sure where to even start this project (and I can look for a turbo while I'm at the yards. . . )

Crazy - are you sure that you want to go the "used parts" route? Everything you find is going to be 20 years old, and was designed for R-12 use.

Looks like there's a complete kit available still, see ackits.com here in Phoenix.

See p. 23 here

Agreed! I don't have a grand to drop on an A/C unit!

I have done a bunch of R-12 to R-134a converts at my old shop by just using adapters on the R-12 fittings, vacuuming out all the R-12 with a old refrigerator pump, flush the system to remove the R-12 mineral oil, and fill it to spec (a little lighter on the R-134a than the label says) with R-134a and proper amount of compatible oil, the 134a may leak out of the rubber hoses over time because the R-134a molecules are smaller than R-12 but overall, not noticeably fast. I did my sisters 86 Honda like that around 5 years ago and it still blows ice cold no issues.

I wan't to add A/C to my B, maybe in the future. Plus I just did a crap ton of "updates" to it. Power steering, Power windows, bucket seats, HID's, LED bar, camper shell, truck bed interior, etc. The wife isn't happy with how much I spent on it in the last few months, gotta let that blow over before I do much else

I don't have a ton of cash to drop on a/c either, which is why I'm asking about the used route, and pics to make sure if I do it I don't miss anything.

Any a/c is better than what I have now.

I know, it's funny to even think about dropping $1200 or more for a new AC system into a truck not worth much more than that !!!

I have ac in my 4x4. Tearing it apart tonight and I'll try to remember to grab some picks for ya. Anything specific you want pics of?
