91 b2200 with a 2.6l g6? factory?

So i bought this 91 b2200 se-5 and it has a 2.6l g6 engine....when i run the vin its listed as having that as its stock motor! Anyone know how this happened?...im asking because i cant find a listing of this truck being offered like that. Im a nissan guy previously and this will be me first mazda...could you custom order these trucks?

Mayhaps they switched the vin with the motor idk?

at first i thought it was a swap....but the install was soo clean it left me wondering. Then the idea was suggested to me maybe it was misbadged...since this is my first mazda i figured well anything is possible and looked up the vin. It has factory graphics and reg markings now and the color code matches so im guessing not a commercial vehicle.

Well, maybe it was imported from overseas? they offer various styles, say someone in the military, but then again just for safety inspections alot would have been changed so be very noticeable, but idk man but nice find and good luck figuring it out.

where did you go to check your vin as well?

edmunds ...or a link off it...googled vin number searches...did a couple all came up with the same info ...if it got that detailed...im jazzed regardless...just gotta remember when i order parts

I bet someone swapped out the dash. Behind the right front wheel, the VIN is stamped into the frame. I bet it won't match the one on the dash!

well since the vin number says its supposed to have the 2.6... im not going to question it any further...just drive it and smile
