My 1984 b2000 died on the way to work. I couldn't get it to start and figured the pump went out. Got the truck home, pump tested bad so I replaced the (original) pump. Everytime I start it now it blows the "regulator" fuse. I wired it up correctly. Any ideas? Bad ground? Can't find the grounding point for the pump.

I'm NOT familiar with the 84 B2000. I assume the pump is electrical. How many wires does it use? Did you do a bench test before installing it?

No bench test before install. Yes it is electric. Two wires just like the original pump. The pump does get power and the truck will start then the fuse blows and it shuts down

One of the two wires for the fuel pump is for positive voltage, and the other should be a ground wire. Can you temporarily try using a jumper wire (with inline fuse) just to the battery and see if that fuse blows?

A bench similar to what Cusser suggested will help. I wonder if the new pump has a higher amperage rating causing the fuse blowing issue?
