So my dipstick broke off today and I need to get the rest of it out so I can get a new dipstick. Have any of you guys ever pulled the dipstick tube out? I briefly tried twisting and pulling with vice grips but it felt like the tube was going to break. Is there another way to do it? Thanks!

Try a twist style ez-out, screw it in and then pull straight out.

worst case....push it all the way down and pull the oil pan

That is also true, it cannot really harm much and you could even be able to fish it out through the drain plug hole.

Isn't the dip stick tube simply popped into place? it should come out. Try cleaning around it at the base (where it goes into the block) and using some penetrating oil.

Problem is if it is busted off flush

Sorry, your first post said dipstick so I took that literally as the dipstick not the dipstick tube.

Try an awl to get between the block and tube remnant? Basically bend it so you can get a set of pliers on it

Any way to thread in a tap and then pull on that?

U would almost need a slide hammer. Its in there really well.
