Went to my local wreckers today chasing a Drive shaft/tail shaft for my 96 b2600 Ex Cab.

Can anyone tell me if the shaft from an earlier model b2600 (say, 90 mod) be interchangable with my 96. Length wise it looks the same, however the flange on the diff looks to be different (mine is round plate with 4 holes, earlier modle was square with 4 holes)

Also, where the spline goes into the back of the Gearbox, my 96 has some sort of dust cover with little flutes cut into it, the earlier truck didnt have this.

Length wise id assume they are the same???

cheers guys, going back monday so any help between now and then would be great!!

what country are you in? in the US 93 was the last year of the 2600i. then they became Fords.

B2600 and 2600 are different because the diff is different and the tranny is too.

Now the diff can be fixed by changing the pinion flange, I did that - however the other end is a problem.

Why not just change your U-joints?

I am in australia,

The truck is fitted with the G6 engine, and 5 speed manual, if that helps. 96 is the last of my shape mod, then they have a face lift from 96 to 98, and then 98 to late 2000's they are totally different body shape. Same engine tho.
I have removed the tail shaft, and looked at the UNI's and they are pressed in from factory (staked in place I think the U.S guys call em) anyway, I want a replcement shaft to throw in her whilst I am in the process of putting the new unis in, its a bit of a procedure. I cant have the truck off the road for too long as its my daily.

Technically speaking, its a Ford Courier, but its the same vehicle, it has a Mazda build plate on it.
