Hello,
I'm what you might call an amateur in the automechanic world, so forgive me if my terminology is off on any of this.

My driveshaft comes in 2 parts, presumably to accommodate the long bed, so it takes 3 U-joints.

Long story short, my center support/carrier bearing went out, and now the center yoke on my driveshaft is trashed. I have been looking for one everywhere, and thought I hit the jackpot with Jim Ellis Mazda Parts when I found this:

After much anticipation, I got the old yoke off, only to discover the new yoke (25220 in the linked diagram) had too large a diameter on the end that connects to the driveshaft (where the splines are). The link above does indeed say it's for the 2200 or 2600, but every other diagram I've found has the same part number.

Does anybody have any suggestions on where I might find a center yoke?

Cheers,
Eric Adsit

Your best bet might be a bone yard... I wonder if there is a short bed and long bed version with different sizes of yokes the long bed being larger.

It might take some work to locate one where you live but a driveshaft shop might be able to fabricate a repair driveshaft for you if they have the old one to work with.

On the Jim Ellis site, it will frequently list parts as fitting both the B2600 and the B2200/B2000. But it's not always the case. I know the splines on the yoke going into the transmission are usually different as wells as the flange on rear diff, but am not familiar with any differences on the center yoke.

Which truck do you have? B2200 or B2600? Auto or Manual? And just to double-check, it's a long-bed and not a cab-plus?

I might have a complete longbed driveshaft from a B2200. Will look into it tomorrow.

Long-bed and Cab-plus use the same length shaft.

Howdy, thanks for the replies.

It's a B2000, longbed, manual transmission. Seems to be fairly rare, at least where I've been looking.

The spline count might be the same (haven't checked yet), but the diameter is off by quite a bit.

Hi Eric,

I think I see the problem.

If you look at the top black navigation bar at the top of the pages, it doesn't mention the specific model year you are searching for. Also, if you look on the far right side, if you click on a "select vehicle" button, you can usually filter the results for your model and year.

Also, after you click on the actual part number on the right side of the page, at the bottom of the new page there will be a "show more" button to show you which models and years it fits. When you click it, it indicates that it only fits 90 and up B2200 and B2600i trucks. So it looks like there were some changes made from the early years. Here is that section:

By the way, this section is probably best used to exclude compatibility rather than confirm it. In other words, if your model and year isn't listed, then it's a safe bet it won't fit. But if it IS listed, I would still be cautious as I have seen many parts show here that do not fit. If there is any doubt at all, you best bet is to call the dealer and have him check by vin number.

Anyhow, when I enter your 86 B2000 and get to the driveshaft page, the diagram/drawing shows the same drawing. However, when I click on one of the diagrams (Longbed 4x2) and look down at the part numbers below, it doesn't show the yoke. So it certainly looks to be "NLA" or no longer available. Here is a link to the page for your 86 B2000.

Anyhow, I finally did get out to my parts and I do have 86 longbed driveshaft assembly. I usually sell them complete because if somebody has a bad one, there is usually more than one yoke that is damaged if not the shaft itself. Have you looked at the other u-joints & yokes closely to make sure that the center one is the only one damaged?

Hey Scotch,

Thanks for the clarification with the Jim Ellis site.

I do need new u-joints, and the center support bearing, so at this point a complete driveshaft might be worthwhile, but I have a feeling it'll cost more than I can afford.
How much do you want for it?

Any chance I could get a photo with a tape measure next to it to compare to mine? When I ordered u-joints from autozone, the only part number they had listed ended up being the wrong size.

feel free to shoot me an email: eric(dot)(dot)com

Thanks!

Going to be tomorrow before I get back to the shop. I will get some pics then and also figure out what shipping will be. I'll shoot you an email now to get your shipping address.
