Ok, This is more of a crazy week summed up working on my truck. I want to share the WHY of my crazy nightmare. Gasoline vapors from the intake got into the booster and destroyed the gaskets!

All of this because of my prior replacement of a the vacuum hose running to the booster. Little did i know.... there is (was) a pill sized plastic check valve with a sort of barb fitting JAMMED into the stock vacuum line. My hackjob vacuum line replacement did not have any check valve, and so began my terrible nightmare

The problem was my brakes were locking and riding the rotors/drums.
I burned through 3 sets of front pads in a few months...

Countless bearing repackings, brake bleeding, brake jobs, and a "reman" master cylinder that was complete junk out of the box.

I discovered the pill sized check valve at a junk yard and got it installed first and now just got done installing a NEW master cylinder, "Reman" vacuum booster, fresh pads up front, rears look awesome (somehow!?!?), new seals and a light toothpaste polish on the super-gunked up wheel cylinders (which are super easy to pull without messing with ANY springs or pins or clips).

Haven't been on much more than a test drive but it feels GOOD. Better than ever.
My engine isn't fighting the brakes constantly and it almost feels like it has almost all 79 HP Mazda says it had new.

Also the vacuum leak during braking was significant at the end here which is what gave it away. Sure was hard to tune the Weber before but i think i'll have better luck with it now. I even have a few smaller jets to play with.

Yep! Gotta have a one-way valve of some sort on the booster vacuum line!

I'm sure your not the first (or last!) person that has done this and fought all kinds of problems because of it........which is why I have replied to your post! It brings it up to the top of the post list, and others will see it!

Thanks for taking the time to post your experience here.......it will help others to know that you HAVE to have that one-way valve in there on a vacuum assisted power braking system!
