Anyone know how to do a front coilover setup?

Anyone know how to do a coilover setup in front? Or are there any write ups on any torsion bar truck with coilovers

Shouldn't be to hard, got any pics of the coil overs you are going to get? They would probably fit best where your shock currently is. Do you have a welder?

You think that upper shock mount is strong enough to hold the weight of the truck? It looks plenty strong since the upper control arm is bolted to it but I sure wouldn't want it to bend

I don't think it would be strong enough but I think that would be the best location if he cut out the upper shock mount and welded in the upper coil over shock mounts.

I think Nytrdr had a front coilover setup, might look at his build thread. I know I did hydro's with coil overs and once properly reinforced the setup can be extremely strong.

Thats for the help guys! I dont even know whats a good size coilover to match up, is the ride still gonna be kina hard since my bumpstop mounts are hitting eachother since i took the bumpstops out? Are the torsion bars removed or kept in after the coilovers are mounted?

if your looking for a smoother ride. you'll need to cut out the bump stops first. even if you put coil overs in there if your bump stops are that close and hitting they still will.

I jus took the bumpstops out completely to sit low

I made my mounts out of some 1/2" plate and a piece of 2" square

Here's some things to consider when thinking coil overs.

decent pair are going to cost $500

i have 11" coil overs, but the travel is only 2" either way, that will beat you to death if your roads are iffy

You have to create an upper mount the stock shock mount is weak.

you have to remove stock bump stops, my QA1's have a bump stop built in
