B-Series Short Shifter?

I am doing some research into swapping out the shifter in my '86 B2000 for something with a bit shorter throw. Upon some research, it seems like the shifter assemblies in a 1st gen Miata, or an FC N/A RX7 SHOULD fit with little to no modification. Has anyone on here had any personal experience with this? Any insight would be greatly appreciated
