Does anybody know of a kit that i can swap my v rib belts over to a serpentine belt? I am having problems keeping the power steering belt on plus the thing still squiels a lot and im tired of hearing it. This is a work truck and honestly not worth sinking a lot of money into it to me has 170k miles on it and its a 5 speed. I would love to get better gas mileage out of it and possibly figure out a way to swap transmissions one with overdrive if i could find one that would fit anybody got any suggestions?

Much cheaper and easier just to fix the issue that you have. First check that the power steering pulley is lined up exactly with the crankshaft pulley groove. Are you using a new Gates, Gatorback, or factory PS belt? Is the PS pump correct for the year?

If its squealing, you don't have it tight enough.
The 5 speed transmission is an overdrive transmission.
Fourth gear is 1 to 1. Fifth is .858 to 1.

And/or his belt is glazed over from being loose.

Are you sure the squeal is from the PS pump? A bad or failing alt can produce a squeal similar to a belt squeal.

Ok i fixed the squeeling issues the belt running to the water pump and alternator was loose as far as the power steering belt its never been changed as far as i know and running the stock 3 belts. Also as far as the transmission, I drive the highway for an average 20 minutes a day and sometimes more during the week depending if i go to town. I am turning 3250rpms in 5th gear and to me that just seems real high. I get like 245 miles to a tank and I would honestly like to get a lot more than that. I dont know to much about carbs but I do know that it is stock and the motor looks a lot like the newer nissan motors. Is there anything I can do to increase the gas mileage? Ive thought about making a hydrogen kit for the truck but have not decided on it yet or not. Also I thought about cutting down my shifter to make it shorter throws. I am used to my 04 cobra and just love the feel of a short throw. Is there any shifters that will bolt directly up to the stock location or be best to modify the stock one? Sorry new to this truck only had it 2 months and have had to do some work to it so far, nothing to major. I am just trying to get the truck where I am more comfortable with it. Thanks for the input so far guys, I am gonna have to pull the head off it when I get my bronco finished and get it reworked leaking oil on one of my cylinders and causes it to smoke sometimes. Hell I may end up selling the damn thing $1000 cash... But if I can get round 24-25mpg in it ill be happy and keep it.

Some people have used an RX-7 short throw shifter on the B, but I don't know which years work.
