factory timing

i just did a motor swap on my 91 max 2.4, it runs super good with advanced timing and super sluggish with a delayed throttle response at factory timing specs which is 5 btdc with the ground wire,,what can cure this issue or what do you think is going on,,,the truck is not coding, everything is perfectly intact no rigging of any sort, the motor did sit for a year before being driven again,ive gone through about a half tank of gas since the swap, all my plugs are white clean burning ???? any advice would be appreciated thanks

Set it at 0 on the crank an advance it a tooth on the cam at a time to get it where u want it But dont go like 10 teeth or u may have motor priblems
