Stuck in first gear

hello all, i just aquired a 1982 d50 4x4.
when originally got the truck, had electrical problem, fixed that. now im stuck in first gear, and after looking at my shifting lever the base? :?: of it is a lil chewed up? & in neatral the truck drives like it is in first gear, other wise stalles out in any other gear. any comments suggestions or help? :? lol

Have you checked the level of your gear oil? Low fluid will cause a lock up.

i havent but will do today, lets see what happens

i checked tranny fluid and it was not quite full bt was sufficeint.
still dnt know what to do???
some one told me to check my linkage but dnt know how???

You have to pull the shifter from inside the cab.

ahh ok, well at the moment the truck is just plane stuck, no forward backward or anything. Shifter will not shift out or in of gear. Taking it to tranny shop today for diagnostic...

can u move the shift lever at all?

I was able to move it freely, shift into any gear, bt after taking shifter lever out and putting back in, not able to. took to tranny shop and said the clutch and tranny welded together. im jus goin to sale it
