sheet metal thickness

okay does anyone know how thick of sheet i should use. im starting to learn some body repair on my truck. i went got a welder now i need to know how thick of sheet metal? anyone know?

Well the sheet metal on the truck is about 18g so I would work on that if you want to start doing bodywork to it
