Ok, I have been trying to get my truck running for about 2 months now. I'm unemployed until I can get a running vehicle, so I don't really have the cash to take it to a mechanic or replace EVERYTHING in the blasted thing.

The truck was having a suspected fuel problem, so I put in a new fuel filter, and thought it would be good to go. I got it to start and drove it (Noticing it will soon need a clutch and possibly a fuel pump), shut it off and let it sit for a day, then it wouldn't start back up. Cranks, but won't turn over.

I had a friend check for a spark (At the end of the sparkplug) while I cranked, and it barely had one.

So far I have checked:

-Battery (Stuck it on a charger, shows it is fully charged, and all electronics work fine).
-Coil (Had it tested at autozone, and they said it worked.)
-Wire from the coil to the distributor (inspected it and had Autozone inspect it too, and it looks fine. Not sure how to test it).
-Distributor cap and rotor (I replaced them, and it didn't change anything so I put the old one's back on since they looked nearly new and I could return the new ones for my money back.).

I have some new plug wires here, but that seems to be unlikely. I was thinking maybe the Distributor? But I am not sure how to check it, or how it would act if it went out. I checked my fuses, and there doesn't seem to be any related to the ignition....

What should I check next? What's the most likely cause of the problem? I'm going nuts without a drivable vehicle.

Thanks all!

LOL.... I have seen this before. Check the ignitor. It's the little piece next to the ignition coil. It has a plug going to it with three wires. If you say your fuel pump is working and there is no spark, that will most likely be the problem. Let us know how you make out.

Do u have a pic of u setup i have the same place and I cant find the ignitor? Im not sure if the ballast resistor is what ur talking about.

Hey man, I had a similar problem but it was not the spark. The truck sat for about eight months. I put some fuel into the carb and it ran around town for the day but a couple of days later it would not start. Turns out I needed to prime the fuel pump because the gas evaporates out after sitting a while. It is a easy to do and does not cost you anything. Then again if it has not been sitting then this would not be applicable. Good luck man.
