Well I have a 89 d50 with a carbureted 2.6L with an abundance of problems. The most pressing is that while accelerating it looses power and bogs out. It has progressively gotten more frequent in the year I've owned it. Is it possibly a hole in a vacume line? A slipping timing belt? It's my first truck and means a lot to me. So if there is any help out there it would be greatly appreciated.

mine does the same thing, its because it is choking out (not enough air). if you can upgrade or modify the air intake that should fix the problem

Spray some carb cleaner on your vacuum lines one at a time and listen for the engine to surge, which will indicate a leak. Bad plug wires can cause hesitation under acceleration, ever pop your hood in the dark? If you see a little lightning storm going on, replace them. When is the last time the truck was tuned up?
