magnum v6 swap or rebuild 4g64 and tranny

hello -newb here -- bought a 1994 mighty base w/a 2.4l and a 5 speed. it has 242,xxx miles on the drive train and NO RUST on the body!!! bought it for my 16 year old. i am contemplating a v6 mag swap w/a ax15 tranny or just having the motor and tranny gone over(rebuilt). currently we are driving the truck. it runs pretty good and shifts well but uses 1 qt.of oil per 1000 miles.it also gets good gas milage.(we got 26mpg just doing easy around town driving) i know v8's are swapped but that my be down the road as a drag project for me when i retire or my son wants to move on to somethig else.

so, i need some guidence / suggestions/or previous threads on this project. thanks.

p.s. i found a complete 2001 v6 and 5speed for the truck including the ecu for $750.00 with around 100,000 miles
