Well i found out about my timing dilema i got a timing belt cover i managed to scrounge one up but the funny thing is i talked to the guy i bought the truck from today he said when he changed the timing belt he changed the timing gear on the truck the stock timing gear he said had an adjustment on it and the new one didnt so where the orignal TDC marks should be they are apparantly not what i mean is when u line the notch up on the crankshaft pulley to the marks on the cover thats not TDC anymore the actual TDC is way past where the marks are so still you are pretty much guessing where the timing marks are so can anybody somebody help me out this problem is going to make me want to scrap my truck !!!!!!!!

Sounds like you have a dilemma on your hands. To find top dead center without marks is easy .remove # 1 spark plug ,place a small diameter wooden dowel [about 5/16th of an inch or so] into the cylinder mark the dowel so you can get a base point now turn the crank pulley by hand SLOWLY don't let the dowel bind at all .When the dowel reaches its highest position before returning to a downward motion you have found TDC at the piston.I would suggest marking it somewhere on the crank pulley for future reference at this point in time. The camshaft timing is similar but you have to remove the valve cover and waht you are looking for is when the piston is at TDC you want both valves closed at #1 same thing here mark it somewhere for future reference . Nail polish works great for it.
