Hello everybody. The maf on my 1990 2.4l mighty max crapped out the other day and I decided that instead of trying to find a 1G maf for it, I could just upgrade to a 2G. I got the 2G maf plus the plug that comes from the harness. Now I know that this conversion is possible but I cant find any reference on who to do this mod. I was wondering if any of you guys in here had actually performed this conversion and if you did, can you please tell me how.

TIA

What 1G and 2G MAf's are you refering to? Not eclipse ones? If your info is correct and you have a 94, its more similar to the 2G maf allready, then the 1G style. There is no reason to change it. NO performance gain will you see. It is not calibrated to run that maf, and is more expensive anyway. Also, the plug for your MAF is the exact same as a 2G eclipse maf, so I still dont understand your question, unless some info is wrong somewhere.

ok. Let me explain better. I have a 1990 mighty max 2.4l. It used the round cylinder shaped air filter. The 1991 and above might max uses a box type of maf. The plugs are different as well. On my 1990 the maf plug is squared and on the above years its flat like on the eclipse. I have seen 1990 trucks with later generation maf installed in them. They just change the plug so it can take the new maf.

Oh my bad, Im sorry man. I thought I read it was a 94. Then what I said wont help. If, and its a big if, they use the same MAF's for the 1G's, about 4 or 5 posts down has a how to and pin out of how to swap the 2 different maf's. Hope that helps.
