hello im new to the site and to owning a D50 just got a 1991 dodge D50 about 2 weeks ago and iv been trying to get it started ever since. first i thought it was the gas pump but found out on line it only comes on when you turn the key to START. now i see there is no spark. i unpluged the wires from the coil and there is power to one other is dead. then i pluged it back in and checked the wires on the coil and there is power on both termeanls on the coil. is that a bad coil or bad ground or ? now right now i have the starter bypassed just a wire that i touch to the + on battery. i havent tryed to see if there is power coming out of the coil to the distributer yet i just hooked up a spark tester at teh plug to the wires and nothing. can i just run a wire from the + on the battery to one side of the coil and a wire from the - of the battery and see if that gives me spark? i need this thing running like asap i sold my other car and the guy is picking it up in a coulpe days thank you i hope someone can help me

well i have it narrowed down to eather the computer or the ignition power transistor there are 3 wires on the transistor white..white/black..black there is power on the white/black witch is the wire going to the coil and the black wire is a ground now there should be power to the white witch is the wire coming from the computer and there isent. BUT there might be when you turn the key to start all i can try right now is in the RUN position untill someone gets home so they can turn the key so i can test it. iv never worked on a dodge before im a chevy guy but this truck was a good deal. hope this helps someone out that knows more about this then i do and they can help
