How many miles? Its likely rings are getting worn out. Highly dout its a head gasket and runs fine.
Do some research man, dont go changing parts on a whim from someone online you dont know who used a "?" in his post...

ummm 165,0000 give or take a few but yeah it does run fine so ur probably correct on it not being the gasket.....so u think it could b the piston rings that r goin bad???

Its not a head gasket at all,if it was a headgasket the problem would be more than just start up.I have a 90 with the same problem,it is the valve seals. They are known wearing out over time. The engine will warm up and white smoke will slowly decrease or stop. Just keep checking your oil levels and maybe step up to a higher wt oil.Let your truck warm up a little to help with smoke and valve rattle.Check your plug to see if there is excessive oil burn on plugs

I agree w/the valve seals. Which also means head gasket. And that smoke is probably blue instead of white. Blue=oil, white=water, black=fuel.

the smoke does come out white ..... so most likely valve seals????

If the smoke truly is white, then it's probably a head gasket or a cracked head. Are you losing any coolant? You'll probably have to pull the head, either for seals or gasket, so that's what I'd plan on. But I'd wait 'till the truck is really running bad.
When it's time, pull the head, get it to a machine shop and have it rebuilt. Or just run the truck 'till it dies. Do a compression check. A cracked head will probably show up on the readings.
