OK my issue is when I try and start the truck in the morning will not start takes forever to get to start turning over and firing. When it gets some temp in it it will start right up and immediately die. When it actually runs when I come to a stop it wants to die. Now is it the idle air control valve that is the issue or is it the ECU. TPS works fine, coil is good, cap rotor good, timing is dead on. Truck sat up for 2 yrs has already had a tank and a half of good gas through it along with almost 2 bottles of sea foam. Injectors are good. My problem is either ECU or Idle air control valve or mass air flow sensor which combined I can just buy another truck running. How can I test the idle air valve and mass air if possible?

I am having a similar problem.I have a 91 2.4 and it doesnt like to start during cold weather.Has plenty of spark and battary voltage. When it does start it will be just a matter of time before it does it again after shutoff.I have read there is ecu problems with the capacitors busting and the main relay failing but it is happening mainly when it is below 40 degrees it can get really annoying.I have also read on alldata that the in tank fuel filter becomes clogged(screen on pump).I have a pump just hesitant on install and wasting money and time.

Well picking up and ECU and installing it just for it to possibly not fix the problem would suck ass. I will check the in tank pump and fuel filter and see if it helps but just between an idle air valve and ECU we are looking at almost $500. Can pick up an 88 and do a weber swap for just a little more and sell this 91 for and dump it into my new 88.
