1st time posting on this site, nice to be here.
All my problems started 5 months ago when I let my mom borrow my truck to go shopping. The truck always ran on the hot side, but never over heated on me. Not her, she did not pay attention and long story short the neck on the rad blew off. Replaced the rad and tried to start, but the head gasket was bad. Well after gas hit $4.00 a gallon this week for my diesel I decided to work on it. I took the head off and the head was cracked between the intake and exhaust valves on each cylinder. Also there was coolant in all 4 cylinders. Payed $450 for a rebuilt head. When I put the cylinder head back on the truck started up and ran great except it started to smoke, the more gas the more smoke. I let it warm up by idle and then I took it around the block. Maybe a total of 10 min run time. I got it running in the dark so i can not tell if is white or blue smoke, but it was billowing out the exhaust. I stuck my finger in the exhaust and it was oily.
no my real question what is causing it to smoke? I'm guessing blow by from the rings. Any other thoughts since I replaced the head and head gasket?
