<img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_confused.gif" alt=":?" title="Confused" /><!-- s:? --> I have a 1979 dodge d5o 2.0 manual all stock problem is after setting everything up to pull the fuel pump out it stops at the end of the studs and won't budge past that. I have tried everything from rocking the motor by hand via the crank pully to trying a pry bar with a light amount of pressure to pulling on the pump by hand it won't budge what do I do now? pull the valve cover? Blow it up with dynamite? burn it to the ground roll it off a cliff this thing is by far the biggest pain in the backside i have ever had the misfortune of owning. plus I can't hardly get parts for it correctly every one assumes they can give me 83-90 parts and they're wrong cause they don't fit right or at all. these trucks are garbage and i think my next venture is going to be a.......HORSE less trouble that way lol. sorry i'm just really frustrated by this 1/2 hr job taking waaaaaayyyyyyy tooooooooo lllllooooooonnnnnggggg to finish.

mine came out pretty easy. is it hitting something? or maybe the studs are bent so it wont slide off? dont forget theres a lever in there that the rod drives maybe its hanging up on that?

No the studs are fine and I know about the rod I was warned that if it was installed incorrectly by the previous owner it probably bent the rod and possibly scored the cam, as it slides down the studs fine until it gets to the end of them, then it's as if it's being held inside by the arm like it's bent. Also I had to remove the carb and found they didn't replace the base gasket but instead used silicone and broke the two plastic go between tubes or coolant tubes whatever they're called they are broke too! (It just kills me what a slop job was done on this thing it's been one thing after another.) airtech says to remove the valve cover to see what's hanging up and why. Perhaps I should go back to what I know 318's but that defeats the fuel economy, lol any other ideas?

ok so I have the old fuel pump out after a little BFH coaxing now the new one won't go in it keeps hangin up between the head bolt and jet? Valve there's not enough clearance to get it in perhaps maybe I need to remove the mounting studs to get the right angle? I'm thinking of replacing them with bolts just in case it happens again. Am I on the right track? And for you guru's of all that is d50 what's the difference between the redline 38 weber and the 32/36? I am following the advise of trash canning the solex p.o.s. Before I have major problems with that. Yes more power would be nice too
