anyone with any kind of tips on disconnecting my engine for my 89 ram 50.I want do disconnect my engine because i want to take my cab off of its frame .my plan is to remove the bed,and the cab so that i can paint my frame.I was also thinking that it would be easier for me to static drop my truck with the body off.then i was going to put the body back on and send it to the painter,i was also going to wrap the engine up so that the painter could paint inside of the engine bay.one of the main reasons i bought this truck was to teach my self a little bit about WRENCHING im a fast learner and i have alot of patience i really would like to do all of this on my own,i do have a really good mechanic friend who i can rely on but as much as possible i wanna do as much of the work myself so if any one has a step by step way to disconnect my engine or any tips or info PLEASE LET ME KNOW.im never going to sell this truck so i have to learn as much about it as possible.thanks for reading this long post hope u guys can help.also i wanted to dress up my engine to so any thoughts of were i can get some steel braded lines like i see in all these show trucks or goods and bad's about them any thing will be helpful thanks

Pretty much just go around and unplug any electrical plugs going to the motor, disconnect the negative cable on the battery and unbolt it from where it is bolted to the block. Pull the plug and power wiring going to the starter off, disconnect the downpipe coming off the exhaust manifold, drain coolant and remove hoses connecting to engine, remove fan, remove radiator, if not removing tranny with engine then remove two bolts holding starter in and also the 4-6 bolts holding the tranny to the engine. Thats basically it, you'll find the rest of stuff you need to pull off/disconnect as your doing the job. Let us know if you need help with anything else along the way

Oh I thought you were wanting to remove the engine from the chassis also, you dont need to remove those bolts or a lot of other stuff I said in my previous post. All you need to do is remove the battery and disconnect the grounds and such, pull the metal box(with vacuum hoses running to it) off the fender wells and keep all vacuum line attached as to not lose track of where each one goes on the carb/etc.. disconnect any plugs for the engine, along those lines.
