So I decided to overhaul the carb on my 1987 D50 because it was dumping gas and flooding the engine. But now, after the overhaul, its doing the same thing. It literally leaves a puddle of gas in the manifold after just a few seconds of cranking. All gaskets, seals, o-rings and needle/seat are new. I verified the needle is definitely closing and sealing. The gas seems to be coming from inside the primary venturi.

Both the main jets are stock and the passages are clear. What else could cause gas dumping out of the venturi?

it could be the accelerator pump, but more likely something in the bottom of the float bowl that is intended to be liquid tight but is leaking; such as the port that allows gas to enter the accelerator pump chamber; or it could be a crack in the plastic float bowl
