glowing hot exhaust manifold?

So my truck runs great, but after roughly 5 minutes of driving at highway speed it bogs down and sometimes dies if i don't stay on the throttle. When i get back from even a 5-10min spin my exhaust man is glowing. I think my cat may be plugged . anyone else ever experienced this?
