ive looked for suspension kits everywhere, cant find one, ive got a 89 spx with torsion bars in the front, would love to figure out the best way to do it

i'd flip the rear axle so the springs are on top and beef up the spring packs. i hate the look of the axle on top of the springs. however, i plan to just graft in the trailing arm rear end from an old raider/montero and use good coil springs.

i dont think a suspension lift is in production for these trucks...the best thing i can tell ya is body lift and crank the torsion bars...be sure if you do crank the t-bars that you trim the bump stops for ride quality

yeah i was kind of not wanting to crank the torsion bars because i was under the impression that it would make it a rougher ride. i guess theres no lift kits that are comparable. so if the only was to get more height is to crank, than crank i will lol

you also have the option of a 3" body lift, i did this to my 4x4 with a torsion bar crank then a set of 31x10.50's and loved it, i think with some body modifications you can get 33's under it but not 100% on that. you also have the option of a straight axle swap but i doubt you want to go that far.

i got a 87 d50 with 3" body lift runnin 31 10.50s i cranked the t bars it rides like a truck but my problem is when i cut the wheel my tires are tryin to rip off the fenders im not willing to cut my fenders so my only option is a sas which im currently amassing parts for i think i bout got everything just need to get it in the shop. dont know if this is right for you it depends on what you want to do with your truck.

I'm inheriting a d50. Don't know what year, definitely a 2nd gen. I'm guessing mid to late 80s. My plan was to lower it and make it a mini truck. After seeing it in person, it feels like it needs a little lift and some 285s on it, maybe a locker in the rear. According to what I've been reading, these trucks have torsion bars? I can squeeze roughly 2" of lift out of them? It's a 2wd and I know it's blasphemy to lift a 2wd, but this is my in town little beater/work truck. I'm new to forums and threads, so any help along the way would be awesome. I'll put up a pic when I get it. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
