well as promised i have been working on my truck, and heres the pics to prove it. ill try to narate as i go so its easy to understand whats going on. fifty if your still around this site these are for you
heres the difference between what i originally built and what was needed in the front spring hangers to level out the front springs
after i installed the correct height spring hangers this is what the swing shackles looked like
so i proceeded to cut off the front cab mounts to make room for the swing shackle mounts, which twisted the springs a little due to the angle. so trusty grinder in hand i devised a plan heres what i came up with
i squared up the shackles as to where they needed to be and cut a rather large hole in the side of my frame
i offset the cut in the bottom so the mount would sit correctly and work with the springs the way they need to
heres the mount sitting in place
so let the sparks fly
then after a little love with a grinder heres the results
then i welded the cab mounts back on
then i showed the cab mounts some love
so heres the end result of all my hard work
and in case anybody's wondering heres a shot of the frame at ride height
thats a full 5 3/4" over the limit for a modified sticker in my state.....
guess that means ill be running antique plates.
