Hi everyone, new guy here.

I just got a 95 Mighty Max. Its my first truck. It seems like a stout little truck but there are a few things wrong with it. My brother-in-law has been helping me but we've hit a wall with a few things and would like some help.

1. Reverse lights- They stay on no matter what gear i'm in. I took out the switch and pressed it and the lights go off. I read in an older thread that this could be because a ball bearing in the transmission is missing. How would I go about replacing that ball bearing??

2. Blower fan- The fan doesn't work at all. Are there any common problems that would cause this or is the motor probably toast??

3. Horn- there is no button in the center of the steering wheel for the horn. Is it possible to rig up a switch on the steering wheel or should I just mount a new switch on the dash or something??

4. Oil leak- Its coming from the front of the motor. Could be a front seal or the oil pan. Is that common for these trucks??

Any advice on any of this would be appreciated. Thanks!!

You can access the blower fan by removing the glovebox. Open the glove box and carefully pry up on the two shiny black "catches". They slide and pop out, allowing the box to drop out of the way. My blower wasn't operating at first because a ground wire wasn't connected. You should be able to see the ground wire when the box is out of the way. I have three of these trucks, '90, '91 and '94 and the blowers work fine in all three, so I don't think it's a common problem. I'm sure you checked the fuse for the blower, I believe it is a 20 amp in the upper right of the fuse box, listed as "heater". On my '91, this fuse terminal was burned out and I had to splice in an inline fuse to bypass the fuse box to get it to work properly.
As for the horn, there is no button. It is a copper sheet held away from contact by a layer of foam rubber. I had to replace the foam in my '90 because the horn would sound when I turned the wheel.

Good luck!

as lush said, check to be sure the contacts on your blower motor are good and there's no corrosion. make sure you have voltage to the motor. if there is power at the contacts you have a bad motor. shouldn't be to hard to check. as far as the oil leak the best thing to do with that is clean off all the oil thats already collected in those areas so you can actually see what's going on. drive around for a little bit then check to see if you can spot the leak. it should be alot more obvious with out all that old grease in the way. as far as the horn just do as im gonna do, get an aftermarket steering wheel :p...... the reverse lights i cant really help with, im not to familiar with these trannys.

Good luck!
