acceleraton problem

My mighty max does not accelerate as it should. When it is not in gear it revs just fine, but when it is in gear if it is given a lot of gas it bogs down. when going up hills even if it is revved high in first it will slow down and almost die in second. it does just fine when accelerating slowly though. I was also wondering if these motors have a rev limiter.
