Best way to shave a tailgate.

I shaved my tailgate and put the handle to the inside and filled in the hole with a metal filler plate and everything, but the bondo keeps cracking where the handle was. I got it ground out and fiberglassed but like 1 month later it cracked again. What do i need to do to shave this thing once and for all! Thanks guys.
