truck shuts off in reverse

Everytime I put my truck in reverse
It like bogs out and seems like it isnt getting fuel then the check engine light comes on.
As soon as you put it in 1st the light goes away and the truck is fine.

Any ideas?

check the wiring around the tranny...maybe a harness is getting pinched when you shift...anything rubbing on a harness will cut it EVENTUALLY! also check to see nothing is wrong with the harness around the engine, nothing getting pinched ..

well? any news? Also, try having someone wiggle the underhood harness that move/shift the most while shifting from park or neutral to drive and reverse... I have seen wires actually have a broken conductor inside a insulation that is still intact.. saw this MANY times when i was workin at the yota dealer.

Standard or Auto? if it was a auto could be the PRND switch or a neutral switch.
Couldn't really see it being a neutral switch as you have no problems starting

Its a 5spd manual

I will check all the things you guys suggested.

It cant be the shifter hitting anything
