Engine Driven Compressors

Hey, anyone have any experiences with engine driven compressors??? I got an 80 El Camino that I am considering installing one on. I have seen lots of setups that use the Sanden and York style air conditioning compressors, but I am considering using the type that looks like it is off a industrial or residential air compressor. Whats everybody think???? AIM and some other companies offer one for like a 100 bucks and its just the pump and pully. Are these things any good or would I be better to go with the Air Conditioning type????????
