Anyone have any info on a large brake upgrade available on the 84+ trucks?? Kind of like a swap from the celica or supra's? Just wondering since a lot of the components are the same and those cars have larger rotors and better brakes if something like this is possible.

research it some and if it seems like it will work go for it,or you could check with lc engineering or downey off road or stainless steel brakes (ssbc)

Willwood. Lol.

The Celicas and Supras have a different bolt pattern than the trucks. No worky. Just go for the rear discs, get the cross drilled and slotted front LC rotors, and call it good.

I knew the cars had a different bolt pattern, 100 x 5 correct?

I wasn't sure if anyone knew if like the trucks from OZ or Japan had larger rotors or not. The stock rotors look pretty dinky when there is an 18 -20 in rim mounted on them.

Just a possibilty, wonder if a mustang or SVO 5 lug rotor and caliper would bolt up on these spindles or maybe even the spindles swap over too??

Supras, Avalons, Camry, Solara, and MR2 (91-95 on the MR2) have 5x114.3 lug pattern same at the trucks

oh and the Cressida but it appears that all the cars have a hub bore of 60.1 and the Toyota pickups have a 108 bore so the bores of what ever you want to use will have to be enlarged But the later model trucks The Tacos have a 60.1 bore

So if the taco (pre-96) uses the same bore and the same stock spindle then it should work?

Right but you will need the taco hubs and spindles cause on the 84-88 they have a biigger bore all the cars have a 60.1 bore wich isnt really a problem just bore the rotor or whatever over my wheel on my truck are Highlander wheels I just cut the centers bigger for my hubs and installed no problems
The 95-and up 2wd have the 60.1 as well as the Rav4's and the Highlanders

Sorry i got you confused, you mentioned the tacoma and I took off with that as a source for the swap.

Do the 89-95 tacos have a larger rotor or are they the same size as the 84-88 years?

Are the tacos (89-95) the same bore as the 84-88? they should be since they use the same spindle through those years

The bores are going to be the same but have no idea on the Rotors?? After 95 they changed to the 60.1 bore
