i dunno dude, im running a stock wal-mart battery in my yota. it powers my truck, system, and compressors just fine. hell sometimes ill leave the key on and just let the compressors run to get full, never had a problem with it dieing at all. truck cranked up perfect every time. ive been thinking of going to optima though, not really for any reason other than to say i have one. lol.

Yellow top & 140 amp alternator!

yellow top is the one you want man
The red top has the highest cold cranking amps.
But the yellow is the deep cylce one recomended for car stereos systems and stuff like that.

I am running a yellow top now.

best thing to do..... Bring your truck up to the shop, and i will find ALL parasitic draws, and fix all wiring to where its bulletproof, so you NEVER have problems... you can run it with a riding lawnmower battery after that if you want to. lol

if you have no current draw or keep it less than 20-30 milliamps or so, you'll be fine. ANY battery and ANY alternator will be fine.

I have a tv, ps2, 120 volt inverter, 3 compressors, 4 10" subs, 1000 watt sub amp. 300 watt high amp, led underbody kit, and blue led's everywhere...................
I have a wal-mart battery, and stock alternator!

The whole purpose of a battery is to START the truck. After that the alternator supplies power to the vehicle, and maintains charge of the battery. If you are a daily driver, use a standard maintainence free battery, or a red top. those are fine, as the normal current drain from added accessories and driving will be recharged on a daily basis.

If you are a weekend driver, or store your vehicle , use a deep cycle battery - they are designed for prolonged discharges at lower current and are NOT designed for high current quick discharges.BUT- Remember, deep cycle batteries do not react as well to a charge from the alternator in an automotive application.

A typical VRLA (valve regulated lead acid) battery (optima red top, monster power cell) is fine for everything, and will last 2 to 3 times longer than a regular "wet" battery due to the fact that any shedding of electrolyte material is recombined into the battery.

sorry for being long winded, but THIS is what i do for a living!! I have to know this stuff to get my advanced installer certification every 4 years...

its not just about re-wiring stuff with new wires.... It is completely possible to wire something to where it seems to work right, but still kills your battery. the only way to tell if it is right is to test for current draw using a multimeter.
