Is there an easy way to identify these truck models? I'm going to be searching for a rear end out of one of these, and I'm not sure how to easily identify them?
thanks in advance...

The lug pattern on those 3/4 ton should be 6 lug like a 4wd. I don't know this for sure but I beleive the 1 ton are 8 lug. The last time I saw a 1 ton toyota axle it was on a camper and it had a really small set of duelly wheels on it.

Hrm...I understood that the 3/4 & 1 ton axle was the same as the 4wd one, but with 5 lugs instead of 6...
hmmm...

From what I can recall in the early 80's Toyota built 2wd pickups with 3/4 ton and 1 ton ratings, they used the standard 8", 5 lug , 1/2 ton rear axle only increased the number of rear springs for the extra weight rating.
In the mid 80's, I believe it was late 85 they came out with a full floating 1 ton rear axle with dual wheels, it had a large center hub with a large 6 lug bolt pattern specific to that axle only and not the same as the 4wd. it had extra gusseting for strength, and had sway bar mounts welded to the rear facing axle tubes.
Around 88 they built the true full 1ton cab chassis unit that had the full floater rear axle along with a larger front hub assembly that used the same large pattern 6 lug front wheels, UHaul used a lot of the chassis's as did most all the motorhome manufacturers of the time.

umm, not for sure where you got that I said they were 5 lug?? I said the 1 ton would be 8 lug and the 3/4 has a 6 lug pattern like the 4wd. I have only seen one 1 ton toyota truck and it was a camper thing.

Easy now...I wasn't saying *you* said they were 5 lug. I was led to understand by someone *else* that they were 5 lug.

In any case, if I want to stay 5 lug, then it sounds like I need to look elsewhere...
thanks!
