To the other Policemen in the scene

You may have already recieved the Officer Killed Summary from 1-30-04 here in St. Louis. We burried one of our own yesterday. Two Officers were woking plain clothes drug interdiction when they got into a struggle with a suspect. He was able to retrieve a pistol from P.O. Nick Sloan and fataly shot him several times then shot his partner P.O. Gabe Keithley. Gabe returned fire fataly injuring the suspect. Gabe was released from the hospital yesterday in time to make his partners funeral. The procession was an hour and fifteen minutes long. It consisted of Family, local law enforcement and Officers from all over the country. It's amazing to see citizens shut off their vehicles, get out, and watch the whole procession in silence. The point of this thread is to remind the other Officers on here that we never know when these things occur or who it will happen to and I just want to wish my extended family well and may St. Michael help us to go home to our family's and friends at the end of the shift.
