Ok guys I need some serious help from you. I need to know if this transmission is a 5sp or not?

I haven't been able to find shit about identifying a 2wd toyota transmission. The transmission has no shifter or top cover so I had to mock up a socket on an extension to try going through the gears, I think its a 5spd and so does the guy I got it from, he says its from a 92 truck w/ 22re motor, my uncle thinks otherwise. The only thing I have been able to find on toyota truck tranny's is for 4wd sites and they really don't give much info on how to id them.
I have tried the stealership and all they give me is asking me for the vin and id code. SInce I don't have it they say they can't help me, WTF???

it proably is a five speed just giving the year and that its a fuel injected motor. i haven't seen any 4 speed fuel injected trucks but that doesn't mean that there isn't any out there.

i had a 91 injected auto. if it doesnt have a linkage set up on either side of the tranny, and it has no round cylinder type plug on it its a manual, also my auto didnt have a cap that was removeable on top... hope this helps...

it looks to be a 5 speed. you should be able to use a socket extension to run through the gears. with a 4 speed it wont budge one bit...you'll know if its got a 5th gear or not. also, you could pull off the two cir-clips on the front of the tranny after you pull off the bell housing off. then just up bolt it and count the gears inside. they are really easy to take apart and inspect.. you could prolly get it taken apart, cleaned, inspected, and put back together in two hours assuming that the sincros are okay.

turned out to be a 4spd. My original 4spd had reverse to the right and down. This one is to the left and up. Thought I was in 5th and its 3rd. I got a different one today though, traded the 2 4spds and a 30pk of busch light for it, so I think I did ok. I did see something I had never seen before. a manual transmission with a pan similar to an automatic??? I thought the dude was pulling my leg.

Jeff, you ever get your shifter bushings taken care of?
