S-10 exaust problem

i have a 96 extended cab s-10 with the 2.2 liter four banger. my exaust comes down and goes under the tranny and goes below the frame. the exaust hits the ground before the frame does. i went to an exaust shop and they said there is no way they can move it so it will still pass inspection. has anyone had this problem?
