I'm wanting to install a pop up gas cap in my bed floor. I have seen a lot of them for motorcycles and few for boats. The prices range from $50 - 250 I am asssuming this is a reflection on vented/ non-vented, weld in bung/ screw in bung and security features.

My biggest question is how did you install it and get the tubing to work? What kind of tubing did you use? radiator hose, silicone.....? I have spent quite a few hours trying to find something that came close in relative ID size to our stock hoses. Most of the sizes I have found were 1.5, stock hose is roughly 2.75.

You shouldn't pay more than $65 for a screw in cap, thats vented with a weld in bung.

As for the tube, I was going to step some tubing down. Figure out whatever size it needs to be, and weld that to the back of the bung, and then also attach a vent tube for the tank, probably cut a stock one off and weld it on.

Thats kind of what I wanted to do myself. Only thing is I've got some real tight 90's to deal with . So I guess I'll orer some stuff and try to piece it together. Any suggestions on who to go through for the cap and bung?? shitloads of them on ebay these days.

Thanks Seth.

heres my popup. i was able to reuse the stock piece where the vent tube meets the fill hose, therefore stock size hoses. you can get the hoses from napa, just have to order them probably. also, NEVER use radiator hose for fuel.

If you need some tight 90s, order up a 1.5" mandrel U bend from Summit. Or try some local exhaust shops.

I always got my caps from a friend at a Harley shop. I used to pay $30, now they're up to $57 at cost. Ridiculous. But I'd hate to pay retail there, lol.

I don't know about Vegas, but it does not pass in CA because its not a testable cap. None of the pieces they have will attach to it because of the size and thread pitch. But if you get the right smog guy, he will let you use the stock cap thats in your glove box.
