Should the drive shaft be shortened when slamming your yota?

I notice that there was very little front to back movement when removing a drive shaft on a static dropped yota ( 5 in front/6 in back).

No, you shouldnt have to. when you link system is set up there should be very little if any front to back movent on your driveline. you may however have to notch your cab in a few spots to keep the driveline from rubbing.
