welding class, to take or not to take

here's the deal, i'm kinda thinking about taking a welding class next year, it being my senior year in high school. you go half the day and then you leave to take a class. would this class be worth it? how much do you think it would cost? I'm afraid of paying then being stuck going there and doing worthless shit everyday after they teach us how to weld. anybody have any experience with these classes? overall do you guys think it would be worth it? sorry for all the questions, just a big decision.
