what is the black cylinder thing at the top of the picture and what is inside it? some kind of fluid sprayed everywhere around this cylinder and i think it came out of the connection where the hose from the top connects to the hardline (right next to the middle of the wire harness). i don't why it did this, and i don't know what the fluid is, it doesn't have a smell. it only sprayed it when the wire harness went into flames, everything runs fine now. i just need to know if i need to refill something, and can i drive it like this. thanks

looks like a charcoal canister....

what does it do and what is inside it that could have leaked and sprayed everywhere?

fuel

well the fluid has no smell to it, so i know its not gas. it is greasy feeling though and won't dry. i don't know what it is now, or where it came from. the hose to the right of the wire harness got burned and now has a hole in it, but it runs to the a/c compressor so i don't think any fluid would be in there, just air, but i could be wrong, plus i didn't have the a/c on when it happened. what else in this area could have sprayed fluid everywhere?

It is a charcoal canister and it serves as a vent for the feul system. It takes the fumes out of the air instead of letting them out into the air or worse, the hot engine compartment. Usually, the hose comes from the gas tank. I have known people to hook up the wrong hose to it and fill it with gas by accident, all the while trying to figure out why the truck won't start. As far as a greasy substance comming out of it? You got me. There shouldn't be any liquid in it at all.

by the looks of the pic the ac line is what burnt and what would have come out of it is freon and pag oil and no smell and oil feeling would be that. Try takeing the cap off the ac line and push the valve just like a tire and see if it hisses if not there is your problem

You say the AC hose has a hole in it, that is the greasy feeling fluid. There is oil in the AC coolant!
The charcoal canister should not have any fluid in it!

well that makes sense, thanks. how do i go about fixing that hole, can i patch it? or do i have to replace the whole hose? do i need to fill anything back up with freon or whatever came out of it?

You'll have too replace the hose ,as it's high pressure. You may find a used one at Tap Recycling 18007657100, they will ship it you you!
