I'm not sure how many of you know how to reset or get rid of this. I finally got a shop manual after owning 4 mazdas. There is a plug that simply has to be unplugged. To access this get in the drivers side floor board look up and to the left (towards the fender). You will see the main harness, look for a lil white plug loose from the rest of the main harness unplug it and the EGR/Check Engine light will go away. In the case of my 90 there is an alternate brown plug to plug into the other white end. Mine had a piece of blue tape wrapped around it if this helps at all.
Hopefully this will help someone who's had this light on forever and did'nt feel like having the stealership reset it for you.
