18x8's

I have a set of 18x8 american racing long boards for my dawg. I can get them on and lay the truck out, but there is no way that I would be able to drive it. I need some suggestions on how to make them fit (ie. shortening the a-arms) in the front or( flaring the bedside a little bit in the rear). Oh ya I dont want to buy 4x4 sheet metal any help would be great
