Is it ok to take em out?

Is it ok to take the bushings that are in between the frame and bed and replace them with shorter ones. I just want to drop my body about 1" this way but dont know if i can. I know I would have to make brakets for the front bumper because it wouldnt line up. Is the ride ok? And is it ok to do this?
